‘FILMOBILE’ was a networking project developed by Schleser (during his Ph.D. research at the Centre for Research in Education, Arts and Media at the University of Westminster), which aims to create a dialogue between the mobile phone industry, film-makers and artists working with mobile devices through a variety of online and offline events.
FILMOBILE
The first international platform for the discussion of mobile technologies, mobile art and mobile moving-image practice was launched in London at the end of 7 June. On 4 and 5 April 2008 the international ‘FILMOBILE’ conference took place at the Old Lumière Cinema. 150 delegates and 22 conference speakers from Australia, Germany, Italy, South Africa, the United States and the United Kingdom discussed the cultural and economic impact of mobile technologies on the domain of art and media practice. The conference featured industry panels, a live web broadcast with the Mobilefest in Sãn Paulo and a cinema screening programme of feature mobile phone productions. The conference ran in conjunction with the ‘FILMOBILE’ exhibition at London Gallery West.
